What's there to know about Incubus besides the fact that they rock? Well,
not much...unless you'd care to know that RollingStone.com gave "Morning View" only 2 stars, and "Crow Left of the Murder"
only 3. My reaction: go to hell, Rolling Stone. Incubus is Brandon Boyd (vocals), Mike Einziger (guitar),
DJ Kilmore (turntables), Jose Pasillas II (drums), and previously from the Roots, Ben Kenney (bass).

"A Crow Left of the Murder" 2004
I had to wait a couple years for this CD, and after jamming to it for the last few months,
I've had ample time to think of a review. Right off the bat, track number 2 titled "A Crow Left of the Murder" begins
with a sick guitar intro, that is fast and yet mellow. "Talk Show On Mute", one of the best track on the CD, is
a cool mellow chill-type song, with a chorus that seems to reference George Orwell's 1984. The very next song,
called "Beware! Criminal" once again showcases Mike Einziger's mad skills, and flows into what I consider the best song of
the CD........."Sick Sad Little World". This 6 and a half minute audio masterpiece starts off once again with Mike funking
it up on the guitar, while Ben gradually brings in the bass. Brandon also kicks ass with the vocals, with lines such
as "the world is a drought when out of love - please come back to us, you're all of the above - I'm making the choice to be
of touch - he said he said he said......[.]" But what REALLY makes this song amazing, trippy, spacey, funky, and awesome is
the 3 minute distorted guitar solo by Mike. Then as softly as it began, it fades out. DOWNLOAD IT.
"Pistola" is kinda weird in that it seems to be a song about nothing, yet it manages to rock hard Incubus-style anyway.
"Priceless" begins with a nifty drum beat followed once again by Mike's mad guitar. People who loved "Make Yourself"
will probably love this song too, and not just because it features a sweet intrumental part in the middle either. "Smile
Lines" is a faster-paced mellow song with a bass line that I swear resembles the old F-Zero games for the SNES. And
to cap off the CD, the raw "Leech" pulls out all the stops with Mike's guitar and particularly Brandon's voice. Overall,
there are many distinctively Incubus moments on this CD which will win more than a few people over. Incubus also proves
they aren't afraid to try something new either, as this CD kinda strays from their norm. The only negatives......the
seemingly endless static that begins the CD, and that Brandon's voice isn't as prominent as on their previous albums.
Nevertheless, this one was totally worth my money, and it'll probably be worth yours too. CHECK IT OUT.
