Want the down-low on one of the year's highly-anticipated albums? Well,
your search is over. You know the rankings by now: 5 stars is a must-have, 4 is pretty good, 3 is ok, and anything after
that, don't bother. Staind is Aaron Lewis on vocals, Johnny April on bass, Jon Wysocki on guitar, and Mike Mushok on

"14 Shades Of Grey" 2003 |
* * * "14 Shades
of Grey" 2003
After weeks of having our heads blown off with their hit single on the radio "Price To Play",
I bought this CD the day a couple days before prom. Normally I don't buy CD's just for one song, but I figured I could
make an exception this one time. Overall, I can say it was an OK purchase. Besides "Price To Play" which
needs no further explanation, the songs "How About You", "So Far Away", and "Yesterday" immediately need to to heard.
For instance, hearing just one of those tracks convinced Watson to go buy the CD for himself. "So Far Away" is one of
the few positively-themed Staind songs about getting another chance at life. "How About You" is about who your real
friends are, and if you don't make it through Aaron Lewis' amazing God-like vocals, then the kick-ass guitars surely will.
"Yesterday" is kind of a typical Staind song with the alienation themes, but this one stands out once more for a fast-paced
chorus with lyrics like ' yesterday -a boy and already afraid - locked deep inside - no place to hide - to hide from how you
make me feel' all the while with a maddeningly hardcore guitars ensemble. The drums, guitars, bass, and vocals go together
perfectly like, how you say, 'spaghetti and meat-ball'. "Falling Down" is one more song I'd recommend, juts because
I like it. If you were turned on to Staind by "Price To Play", I'd suggest downloading the songs I named off instead
of paying $15 bucks for the CD. However, if you are really into Staind, go ahead and get it, I don't think you'll be
too disappointed.
